Our Services
Hospice services are available 24/7 and are covered by most private insurance plans, Medicare and Medicaid.
- Routine hospice care includes frequent home visits by our nursing staff to manage medications to relieve symptoms and pain, coordination of medical equipment and supplies and ongoing communication and support for the family
- Continuous hospice care is provided in the home when a patient’s pain or symptoms need continuous monitoring and management
- Inpatient hospice care is provided at Cullman Regional for patients who may experience extreme symptom crises that cannot be adequately managed in a home setting and require frequent skilled nursing intervention to maintain symptom control
- In-home chaplain services are available for spiritual support at the patient or family’s request
- A 13-month bereavement program is available to support loved ones
- In-home aide services are provided by certified nursing assistants to help manage personal hygiene needs at the patient’s or family’s request
- In-home social services are provided at the request of the patient or family to identify and establish additional resources to aid in the care of our patients

As Cullman County’s first hospice program and the community’s only non-profit hospice provider, Cullman Regional Hospice has served patients and families for over 35 years. Hospice of Cullman County Inc., a United Way agency, hosts fundraising events throughout the year to support our ability to care for patients regardless of their ability to pay. All funds raised are used to provide care and support for uninsured patients. What is hospice care?

What are the benefits of hospice care?
By managing pain and symptoms in the home for patient comfort and quality of life, patients can stay in a familiar setting with loved ones around them. The home also offers Important support services, including chaplain visits and social services. Patients may need fewer hospitalizations because they are supported by a physician-led care team.
When is Hospice right for me or my loved one?
Receiving hospice care is a choice made by the patient and family after a physician determines that hospice care is appropriate. You should talk with your physician when you or a loved one is experiencing any of the following:
- Treatment is not working
- Pain and other symptoms are difficult to control
- Severe weight loss, fatigue or extreme difficulty performing daily personal care

What types of illnesses are eligible for hospice care?
Below are some common chronic diseases that typically qualify for hospice care. It is important to know that this is not a complete list, and if you feel you or a loved one may benefit from hospice care, you should talk to your physician.

Will my doctor be involved with my care plan?
Your primary care physician can follow your care and make decisions regarding your hospice care.
How often will my care team visit me in my home to provide care?
With an experienced and sizable team that includes two physician medical directors, nurses, aides, social workers, chaplains and volunteers, Cullman Regional Hospice patients receive an average of nine home visits every 14 days.
Can I travel while receiving hospice care?
Your hospice care team will not restrict activities like travel but may make recommendations based on the patient’s condition and goals.
How do I get hospice services?
